On behalf of a developer client, we have recently acquired the freehold of a former chemist with vacant possession in the affluent London suburb of Putney.

Located in a busy local parade immediately off the A205 South Circular and in close proximity to a mix of local retailers and national multiple occupiers including Tesco Express, Ladbrokes and Brewers Decorator Centres, the property was secured by our client amidst competitive bidding.

An agreement For Lease was exchanged with a national multiple retailer during the agreed acquisition due diligence period, and the client is now in the process of undertaking works to both the shop unit and a vacant 2 bed flat above to prepare the property ready for occupation.

In an off market transaction, we have recently acted for a family trust in the sale of a long leasehold interest of part of the former Carluccio’s restaurant in Windsor.

The property had been vacant since Carluccio’s went into administration in 2020 and was located where the Windsor Yard Shopping Centre met the Royal Station Shopping Centre.

The interest was sold to the Fund owners of the shopping centres who have amalgamated the interest into their existing ownership, and have let the entire property to Megans.

WPC recently acted on behalf of a Channel Island Based Trust in the rent reviews of the M&S Simply Food in East Dulwich and the Co-Op and Papa Johns Pizza in Weymouth. It is always nice to retain an involvement in properties for clients throughout their ownership, having acquired the Weymouth property off market for them in 2018 and having had some involvement in the East Dulwich block for the developer before my client bought the property from them.
